The music is invariably impeccable. The music is well constructed, well played, intricate, beautiful, often flawless. Kind of like looking out over a sparse, snow covered landscape.

I have to say, ASCAP Jazz online radio leaves me cold. No warmth. Brrrr. Emotions off. Sad ballerina staring out into the distance in a poignant moment. I don’t think the people who wrote much of this music experience much happiness or joy. It’s like they pushed a button saying “Suck the life out of the music”.

This doesn’t make for good jazz to me. Jazz, from it’s inception is very, very alive music. Think of New Orleans. Think of the joy of Louis Armstrong. And when Billy Holiday was sad, you were in no doubt of it – she let it all out. You’ll probably want to seek your jazz elsewhere, unless you are heavily depressed.

If you are very mathematical, intellectual and shutdown emotionally, you might enjoy ASCAP Jazz.
