Big R Radio

My first venture on iTunes radio saw me caught be surprise by the mass of online radio content. I thought that I would test out alternative radio and the name Big R Radio seemed friendly enough to supply me with a trip down memory lane to my disenfranchised youth.

The music I received was not the bleak and stereotypical sound of 90s grunge that is rehashed by many stations nowadays and I was pleased to hear Beastie Boys and The Chemical Brothers in between Alice in Chains, Fiona Apple and Collective Soul. It made proud of the time and the non generic range of music that was produced.

The great thing about Big R Radio is that there is no filler and no mind numbing wanna-be comedian DJ given the public his gospel on society and all things celebrity.

This is what radio should be about, supplying the listener with the advertised product – Alternative 90s music is what I wanted and that’s what I got.

The Big R Radio 90s Alternative play list is a solid staple of tracks that include electronic, rock, pop and some of the great ballads produced in that time. Even though I adore Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins and Soundgarden, it was nice not to come across them in the 60 minutes I was listening.
