Radioio Internet Radio supplies many genres and eras on their 78 separate channels, 21 of which are dedicated to the audiophile via subscription. I sampled their blues dedicated station to see how learned their programmers were on blues music, a mainly non commercial yet extensive genre that has appreciative followers of a polished nature, who aren’t always inclined to download music online.

There was no bias towards either east or west coast and a steady supply of southern soul ensured that this is a station of great integrity. Modern artists are blended perfectly with past legends that date back to the origins of blues.

Pioneer of the boogie woogie piano Charles “Cow Cow” Davenport belted out the Texas Shout, while the Robert Cray Band melted the ice in my drink with Phone Booth and I knew I was in safe hands when the formidable voice of Howlin’ Wolf filled the room on Built of Comfort.

Below is a video of The Robert Cray Band performing Phone Booth:

Sublime presenter Bob Davis ensured it was not a night for lamentation with plenty of crossovers. The funk infused Robert Randolph and the Family Band made sure that energies were lifted on the late night shift. All bases are covered with modern day blues artist Janiva Magnass representing the fairer sex with aplomb on her take no prisoners song I’m Going to Tear your Playhouse Down.

I’m able to highly recommend radioio Blues station to all lovers of good music. If you are novice to the blues, your education awaits you here.
