All Pop Radio BannerAll Pop Radio is no frills internet radio. There are no massive list of stations and there is no detailed list of programming by a dedicated staff that want their listeners to be part of their online radio environment. In fact it is a microcosm of all things Pop, it is disposable but serves its purpose however unsubstantial that maybe. Nowadays with free music downloads, radio better follow suit and free itself form the chains of the past if it wants to compete. All Pop Radio is as competitive as it is for the money spent on production.

There are not to many risks on the playlist everyone that is gracing the charts during the past two decades seem to be boundaries by which the station clearly lives between. I heard Beyoncé, Owl City, Cascada, Meredith Brooks, Ne-Yo and Taylor Swift in my short stay and became quickly aware that commercial safe pop for the masses was on offer for whomever cared to listen, not that this is a bad thing.

There is no annoying wanna be DJ/Comedian interrupting and the only ad I got was short enough not to be a major intrusion. All Pop Radio doesn’t supply as a comprehensive package as you would expect from their title but they gave me a carefree blend of the nice pop without the hassle of most stations you would find on your dial today.

I recommend it to all that just want to tune in and tune out from to many choices and decisions and receive a steady blend of pop hits.

Here is some more pop with a video of Taylor Swift singing Fifteen:

Absolute 90’s (1.FM TM)

Graphic displaying text I love the 90s

Wow, I didn’t think I would enjoy this as much as I did! The first track I was introduced to the station with was some dance remix of a song I could not identify but truly enjoyed! The stations description of “Nonstop 90’s party hits” seems to be an adequate one. This would be a great station to play for a party for everyone who wants to stroll down memory lane to the the 90’s funky dance beats, or to remember all those songs you wanted to add to a list of free music downloads. Check out their selections: Absolute 90’s.

“Everybody into the place, Everybody into the place” Woohoo! Sirens and everything in this track! I was uncontrollably jamming and then out of nowhere comes a commercial break. :( Thankfully it was a short lived one. Back to the tunes:

Remember C & C Music Factory? Yes you do! Gonna Make You Sweat was a great 90s hit! I just got to hear an extremely fun remix of it!

Get on the floor, move that body!

C’mon let’s work,

Let the rhythm move you,

Let the music take control,

Let the rhythm move you!

Check it out, the original music video:

This station did not fail to amaze and entertain me. It followed C & C Music Factory with R.E.M.’s Drive. Can’t say I expected the variety, but I am thoroughly enjoying it all the same! I’m sure that given the proper attention and time, this station would play many of your favorite jams from the 90’s.

100sation Online Webradio

Another day, another free music station. 100sation Online Webradio heralds with the tagline “24h/24 POP ROCK SOUL ELECTRO LOUNGE”.

Listening started off promisingly. A cute, pop girl song. I was lulled. This station could be good background music, attractive wallpaper. But then the station descended into end-to-end commercial horror. Digitally pitch corrected singers’ voices (think Cher). Recognizably top 40 synth sounds, grown to new levels of grating annoying-ness from overuse & overplay. Boom, boom, boom. Over the top, no feel, no heart. Almost like you should be paid to hear it rather than listen to the free music.

Then it got worse – Dante’s lowest musical hell – another remix of “What is Love?” comes on (not the Dee-Lite song, but the 1993 song from Haddaway). This track is so tired – you can hear it from any bad DJ in any anonymous nightclub – please DJs of the world, can we put it out to pasture?

And then on comes the announcers voice – ah, it’s a French radio station. Why am I having such bad luck with French radio stations? The French make some great music. If you know a good French online radio station, help me! – please add it to the comments below. (A friend of mine used to listen to a great one from Paris.)

I’d completely write off the station, but in the midst of listening hell, on came this beautiful French track. It had style & feel.

If you love simple, happy, silly music (and I use that term loosely) – think I’m a Barbie Girl – try 100sation Online Webradio.

You can find 100sation Online Webradio in iTunes in Radio under the Eclectic section.

Postscript: Oh no, it’s then end of the review and I’m still listening to 100sation. I’m tapping my foot, I’m smiling. Cute track. It’s Robbie Williams. I’ve contracted infectious pop-itis! 100sations got me in the end… :-)
