I was feeling nostalgic remembering the simpler times of my early teens and came across Star 107.9 online radio. The eighties is hard to define musically, there was such a dramatic shift in the way music was produced and new forms of pop, electronic and rap burst onto the scene. When I think of the decade I automatically recall artists such as Joy Division, N.W.A., Prince, Madonna and Culture Club, however there are so many genres and sub genres that emerged in that ten years that everyone would have their own memories.

The first track I heard on Star 107.9 was the outrageously camp Dead or Alive with their hit You Spin Me Right Round (Like a Record). I feel that this is one of the most under rated dance tracks of the 80s and is one of my favorite music downloads in my collection, so I was pleased that I had stumbled across this station. From then on though there was a shift to a soft rock ballad play list containing luminaries such as Don Henly, Elton John, Journey and Kenny Rogers, who are all respectable artists that play great easy listening music that I appreciate.

I inspected stations website and found that it very informative that includes a nineteen page history section which tells the story of the original Star 107.9 radio station that ran between 1998 and 2001 and explains why the online radio station is called the new Star107.9. There are many great bios on all the jocks that have gone through the doors. I like the fact that the people running the station care greatly about what they do. If you have a spare moment for some fun check out the links to commercials, television, games and rock stars, they made me yearn for these stress free times.

So if you are looking for a total reflection on music of the 1980s you will not get it at Star 107.9. What you will get is good music played without too many ads and annoying chatter. This is the adult contemporary highlights of the era with a splash of MTV. It is good online radio that makes life feel good!
